Shorter Hike at The Mansfield Hollow

Post Halloween night activities we week really
did not start to move quickly, but we still set
off to do a short hike.

This week was a ReTrail on the Rt 89 side of the Mansfield Hollow State Park in CT.

Pretty easy start on the crosscountry sking trails, but the trail back seemed a bit more up hill and
not great for our tired little feet. Very few things
to hold the intrest of the boys as they struggled
to muster up the energy to walk back to the car
before dusk.
In general this is a good hike might be more interesting in the spring time. We saw lots of tracks, leaves, dear tree rubbings, Woodpecker holes and lots of fungus growing in and on trees. Might revisit this hiking trail in the spring.

Our Hike to Seven Falls Haddam CT

AWESOME HIKE

Well marked trails, and intresting walk for us all.

HARD but a good challange for us. The start of the hike was tougher than the second part, so we did it the right way. The boys were great and pushed themselves to see new things along the way.

October 6th 2009 Soapstone Mt. Somers CT

Chick here for my previous post on Soapstone Mt. Somers CT

Pretty easy hike for little legs, not saying mine are small, but the kids did real well plus it was a great view of the fall leaves.

Shenipsit State Forest, Somers, Observation Tower ~ From Somers, take Route 190 east for 1.25 miles to blinking yellow traffic light. Turn right on Gulf Road and drive 2.25 miles to Soap Stone Mountain Road (the first right after Mountain View Road). The road leads to the tower parking lot. The blue-blazed Shenipsit Trail runs by the tower.
